Volunteers Fan Out to Help Clean Delaware's Shores

LEWES, Del. (AP) - Hundreds of volunteers have been working to clean up shorelines and beaches along the Delmarva Peninsula.
The Associated Press reports there were about 100 people working Saturday at the main beach at Cape Henlopen State Park near Lewes. The Coastal Cleanup is an annual program and includes dozens of sites.
Volunteer coordinator Lee Temby says the beach cleanup is useful in educating children about how to keep the shore clean. Temby says most beaches in the park are fairly clean already because most people carry out their trash throughout the summer.
