UD Students Rally on Harassment; Professor Ousted

Posted: Updated:

NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Hundreds of students at the University of Delaware are calling for more transparency in the school's harassment policy after a professor was accused of offering a student an "A'' in exchange for sexual favors.

The students held a rally Friday afternoon and then marched to the university president's home. The gathering included more than 300 students and instructors.

An accusation against a sociology professor sparked the rally. The male professor was accused by a female student in May of offering a top grade in exchange for sexual favors. The university has declined to comment on how the matter was handled.

But Vice Provost of Faculty Affairs Matthew Kinservick says the professor is on administrative leave and will resign at the end of the academic year.
