Multiple Arrests Stem from DUI Checkpoint in Berlin

BERLIN, Md. (WBOC)- A DUI Checkpoint in Berlin resulted in 487 checks and multiple arrests Saturday.

Maryland State Police troopers from the Berlin barrack conducted the sobriety checkpoint on westbound Rt. 50 at Riddle Lane in Berlin beginning around 11 p.m. and ending at around 1 a.m.

Troopers said during this time, six individuals were directed to the side of the road for further testing which resulted in one DUI arrest. A probably cause search of a vehicle led to one arrest for controlled dangerous substances (CDS).  

Other troopers and allied law enforcement agencies participated in saturation patrols while the checkpoint was being conducted. From these patrols, four impaired drivers were arrested, three people were charged with possession of CDS, and two people were arrested for outstanding warrants.

Worcester County Sheriff's Office, Pocomoke Police, Berlin Polcie, Ocean Pines Police and Ocean City Police Department also participated in the operation.
