The Delaware Department of Corrections Graduates 29 New Officers


DOVER, Del. - The Delaware Department of Correction has 29 new employees after a graduation ceremony Friday.

Following nine weeks of training, graduates took an oath of office and received their assignments in front of family, friends, Lieutenant Governor Matt Denn and DOC officials.

Classmates selected Brian Davidson of Millsboro to be class speaker, and the instructor team named Matthew Blumenthal of Dover as the group's Outstanding Cadet.

The Correctional Employee Initial Training (CEIT) consisted of hands-on and classroom sessions in topics such as weapons familiarization, defensive tactics, emergency preparedness, report writing, substance use disorder training, CPR/Basic First Aid, and inter-personal communication.

More than 2,600 employees serve the Delaware Department of Corrections, supervising more than 7,000 adult offenders in facilities across the state.
