Ravens' Smith Ready for Game Vs. Panthers, Former Teammate Williams

CHARLOTTE, N.C. (AP) - Panthers running back DeAngelo Williams playfully donned some goggles in practice Thursday, preparing for Carolina's upcoming game Sunday against Steve Smith and the Baltimore Ravens.

Williams conducted an interview at his locker on Thursday wearing clear motorcycle goggles - a subtle response to Smith's quip to a Charlotte radio station earlier this offseason. After being released by Carolina after 13 seasons, Smith told WFNZ-AM in March that when he plays the Panthers "put your goggles on (be)cause there's going to be blood and guts everywhere."

Williams, who remains friends with Smith, added the wide receiver "kind of left us a message the first game of the season, so I'm looking forward to it."

Williams expects to play Sunday after missing the last two games with a hamstring injury.
