NEWARK, Del. (AP) - Police in Newark have arrested a man they say started fires in two homes, one while residents were in their bedrooms.

Police arrested 20-year-old John Grimes at his Newark home Thursday on charges of arson, reckless endangers, burglary and criminal mischief.

Grimes is being held in prison. It's unclear whether Grimes has an attorney.

Police accuse Grimes of entering an unlocked Newark home and setting a fire on the stove while two 21-year-old residents were in their bedrooms. The residents put out the fire after a smoke alarm went off.

Shortly after, police say a man reported coming home to find his apartment filled with smoke because of a fire set on his stove. The fire had burned itself out before the man got home around 12:30 a.m.
