Case of Enterovirus D68 Confirmed in Del.

DOVER, Del. (AP) - Public health officials say a case of a severe respiratory illness has been confirmed in a Delaware child.
The Delaware Division of Public Health said in a news release Friday that the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention reported a positive test for enterovirus D68 from samples the state agency submitted.
The agency said a sample from another child hospitalized in Delaware but who is not a state resident also tested positive for the virus. A spokeswoman for the agency says the results were given to health officials in the child's home state.
The virus can cause mild to severe illness, with the worst cases needing life support for breathing difficulties.
The CDC said as of Thursday there had been 226 lab-confirmed cases of enterovirus D68 in 38 states.
