Salisbury Police Arrest Suspect in Stabbing

SALISBURY, Md.- Salisbury police say they have arrested a man in connection with a reported stabbing Saturday. Police

say they responded to a reported stabbing on the 400 block of Washington St. around 12:15 a.m. on Sept. 27.

Officers say they found the victim, 29-year-old Wayne Thomas Handy Jr., suffering from a stab wound to his abdomen. Police say Handy was transported to PRMC and is expected to recover.

According to police, Handy was involved in an argument with the suspect, when the suspect stabbed him. Police say the suspect then fled the scene in a burgundy Mercury sedan.

Salisbury police say witnesses identified the suspect as 32-year-old Jacob Lee Chisum of Salisbury. Detectives say they obtained an arrest warrant for Chisum and shared his vehicle information with allied agencies.

Police say officers from Fruitland Police stopped Chisum in a traffic stop around 4:30 a.m. near N. Division St. and Creekside Dr. in Fruitland. According to police, Chisum was taken into custody without incident.

Officers charged Chisum with Attempted 1st Degree Murder, Attempted 2nd Degree Murder, Assault 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Reckless Endangerment, Concealed Deadly Weapon and Wearing/Carrying a Deadly Weapon with the Intent to Injure.

Police say they are still investigating the incident.
