DSU Hosts Guest Lecturer on Mars Exploration


DOVER, Del. – The Delaware State University College of Mathematics, Natural Sciences and Technology (CMNST), will present Dr. Jeffrey R. Johnson of the Applied Physics Laboratory at Johns Hopkins University in a public lecture entitled “The Life and Times of Mars Rover Spirit” at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 7 in Room 139 of the Mishoe Science Center South on the campus.

The guest lecture, which is the first presentation of the CMNST Dean's Distinguished Lecture Series for the fall 2014, is free and open to the public . The event will be fascinating to persons of all ages, especially to those who have an interest in planetary sciences and particularly in the current discoveries from Mars.

Dr. Johnson , a geoscientist, has done research on lunar telescopic observations and interpretations and has worked on the Mars Pathfinder and Mars Exploration Rover teams . He is currently a participating scientist on the Mars Science Laboratory Rover Curiosity.
