GEORGETOWN, Del.- Police say they have arrested an Ellendale man in connection with an attempted robbery and damaged property incident that occurred in the the parking lot of Royal Farms in Georgetown.

Georgetown police said they responded to Royal Farms on Wednesday at 7:44 p.m. Officers said when they arrived, they discovered a Toyota truck parked in the east side parking lot of Royal Farms had rolled across the parking lot and hit a parked vehicle in the Boulevard Ford parking lot.

Investigators said the owner of the Toyota was the victim of an attempted robbery, in which Christopher Sockriter, 30, had tried to take the victim's wallet. Police said the victim and Sockriter were fighting over money inside the Toyota truck.

During the fight, police said the truck was knocked out of park which caused it to roll across the parking lot into the parked vehicle. Sockriter took off before police arrived, according to investigators.

Police said they found and arrested Sockriter at around 5 a.m. Thursday.

Sockriter was charged with attempted robbery and criminal mischief and ordered held in the Sussex Correctional Institute in lieu of $1,200 secured bond with a future court date.
