New Apartment Buildings Planned for Booth Street in Salisbury

SALISBURY, Md. - The affordable housing complex on Booth Street in Salisbury is in line for a make-over and this one will be from the ground up.

Pennrose Properties LLC out of Baltimore and the Wicomico County Housing Authority have a plan in place to build brand new apartment buildings in place of the current buildings on the complex.  The project has been broken into two phases.  Phase one will focus on the western half of the complex.  The details of phase one include demolishing the current buildings which house 50 apartments and build nine three-story buildings that will hold 84 brand new apartments.

WBOC spoke with a handful of neighbors at the complex who all declined to go on camera - but all were in favor of the project saying they were looking forward to having something brand new.

Project leaders at Pennrose said during the construction process, current tenants will be placed in temporary locations both on and off site.  The complex will also remain an affordable housing community.

Phase 2 will begin once phase one is entirely complete and the apartments have been rented.  Project leaders hope to begin the $17 million project by April of 2015.
