DOVER, Del. (WBOC) - The Biggs Museum on Dover's Legislative Mall showed off $2 million in renovations Thursday. The art museum, full mostly of items connected to Delaware, started fundraising for the renovations in 2010.
The museum took over the first floor of its three-story building after the First State Welcome Center moved into the archive building. The $2 million allowed Biggs to integrate all the floors together.
"We would raise a little bit of money and do a little construction, raise a little more and do a little construction. We didn't want to go into debt. We wanted to pay our way as we went along," said Ryan Grover, curator at the museum. "We raised the money faster than we thought we would and finished construction faster than we thought."
The museum's curator says work on each floor took two or three months.
