EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) - More than 100 names of firefighters who were killed in the line of duty have been added to the National Fallen Firefighters Memorial in Maryland.

Among the 107 firefighters honored were 19 Arizona firefighters killed in a 2013 canyon fire and 10 first responders killed in a fertilizer plant explosion in Texas last year. Ninety-eight of the firefighters honored died in 2013. Nine died in previous years.

Two Maryland firefighters were honored at a national memorial ceremony for fallen firefighters in Emmitsburg.

Perryville Fire Capt. David Barr Jr. and Reisterstown Volunteer Fire Co. firefighter Gene Kirchner were honored on Sunday.

Barr died in 2013 after he was hit by a car while working the scene of an accident. Kirchner died in May after suffering critical injuries in a fire.
