WALDORF, Md. – The Maryland State Fire Marshal says a well known southern Maryland gun shop has been badly damaged by fire.

The fire happened at 4:30 a.m. at Fred's Sports on Crain Highway in Waldorf, Md.

Fire officials say damage is estimated at $1 million.

Investigators say there is evidence that the store was burglarized before the discovery of the fire. It took more than 35 firefighters to control it, according to fire officials.

There were no reported injuries.

The business did not have a sprinkler system.

No estimated time as to when the gun shop will reopen.
