Driver Bails in Traffic Stop, Has Not Been Located

QUEENSTOWN, Md. – Maryland State Police said a traffic stop turned into a suspect search Tuesday afternoon.

It happened at 1:00 p.m. on Rt. 50 near the Queenstown Outlets.

Greg Shipley, with MSP, said a trooper tried to stop a car for speeding. He said the car did not stop and went a little farther up the road before getting out of the car and taking off on foot.

According to Shipley, as the suspect got out of the car the trooper's car hit the back of the suspect's car.

Both the driver and passenger in the car got out to run, according to Shipley. The passenger was apprehended, but the driver has still not be located.

Dale Patrick, of the Queen Anne's County Sheriff's Office, says the suspect ran across Rt. 50 towards the outlets.

MSP then flew over the wooded area to try and find the suspect, but according to Patrick, had no luck and called off the search.

Police say they continue to look for the driver and plan to charge him with traffic violations.

According to the QA Sheriff's Facebook page, the Queen Anne's County Board of Education put Grasonville Elementary School on limited lockdown for precautionary reasons.
