FEDERALSBURG, Md. – A suspect is in custody for the murder of a Caroline County man.

Maryland State Police have arrested 55-year old James Bolden of Federalsburg in connection with the shooting of 25-year old Timothy Darnell Smith Junior.

Family and friends in the area were devastated to learn of Smith's dead, including neighbor Amelia Pinckens.

“It's really a shock to me because I don't ever remember anything like this happening in the community,” said Pinckens.

Pinckens' daughter Dachelle knew Smith and said he often went by the nickname “Tuck” around the neighborhood.

She said safety is now a primary thought in her mind now in light of the shooting and the bank robbery of PNC bank in Federalsburg last week.

“A bullet doesn't have anybody's name on it – it could've been me,” Dachelle Pinckens said. “Federalsburg is just getting too dangerous now.”

Investigators are urging witnesses to come forward with any information about the shooting by calling the Maryland Police homicide unit at (410) 822-3101.
