PRMC Drive-Thru Flu Clinic Draws Thousands

Posted:
SALISBURY, Md. - Between Thursday and Friday, anywhere between five to six thousand people are expected to roll through the annual PRMC Drive Thru Flu Clinic at Shorebirds Stadium in Salisbury.

Many people say they have been coming to the drive thru clinic since the first year it started.  It's an annual tradition to ensure they take the proper steps to stay healthy during the winter months.  One of those annual visitors is Dewey Evans of Hebron.

"I am a heart patient and I have to get the pneumonia shot and the flu shot and I want to take care of myself and this is one of the easiest ways to do it," Evans said.
Evans was joined by what seemed like an endless stream of customers on Thursday.  Many just simply driving through for their flu shot, not giving the whole process another thought.  Others say all of the recent headlines about the different viruses and diseases, including the flu, ebola, and enterovirus; getting this shot was a necessity.

"Yeah, with the scare I just try and stay healthy.  With dealing with the public, you kind of have to keep your health up," said Don Cooper of Salisbury.
While others believe all of the hype is just that, hype, and people need to simply take care of themselves and everything will turn out alright.

"No, I am not scared about it.  As long as everybody is cautious about what they do, I think we will be ok," said Joan Ward of Salisbury.

PRMC says 2,340 flu vaccinations were administered on day one of the Drive-Thru Flu Clinic.

Anyone interested in getting a flu shot of their own can do so on Friday between 10am and 6pm at Shorebirds Stadium in Salisbury.
