YORK, Pa. – The Capital Athletic Conference announced its weekly field hockey awards Monday afternoon and Salisbury University senior goalkeeper Rachel Clewer was honored as the league's Defensive Player of the Week.
Clewer guided the Sea Gulls to a 2-0 week with four saves while surrendering just one goal against Christopher Newport University and York College of Pennsylvania.
Against CNU, Clewer turned away two shots in Salisbury's 4-1 win and stopped two shots in just under 50 minutes against York, in a 6-0 victory.
The shutout was one of six that Clewer has had a hand in this season.
Clewer and the Sea Gulls return to action on Wednesday, October 22, against Wesley College at the Sea Gull Stadium, beginning at 6 p.m.
