YORK, Pa. – Wesley College's Nasia Denegal has been named the Capital Athletic Conference Women's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week, it was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon. This is the first time that Denegal has received a weekly honor in her collegiate career.
A freshman from Abingdon, Md., Denegal led the Wolverines to a 1-0-1 week in the CAC with a victory over Penn State Harrisburg before a tie with Frostburg State. Denegal first blanked the Nittany Lions, 1-0, while making eight saves before playing all 110 minutes against Frostburg. Against the Bobcats, Denegal recorded a season-high 19 saves with 11 saves in regulation before stopping eight more in overtime to preserve the tie.
For the season, Denegal has recorded a CAC-leading six shutouts while ranking second with 85 saves, third with an 85.0 save percentage and seventh with a 1.26 goals against average.
Denegal and the Wolverines (9-4-1, 2-3-1 CAC return to action on Wednesday, October 22 when they host Salisbury (8-4-3, 5-1 CAC) in a 7 pm kickoff.
