Meet the Candidates for Queen Anne's County Sheriff

Posted:
CENTREVILLE, Md.- Gary Hoffman has been Queen Anne's county sheriff for eight years and he hopes to be re-elected this November.

"We have a demonstrated track record over the last eight years fiscal responsibility, returning money to the taxpayers in every single budget, coming in or at budget.  We've reduced crime dramatically within Queen Anne's County," said Hoffman.

His opponent is Kevin Rhodes, a 34 year veteran of the Maryland State Police.  Rhodes says experience makes him the best man for the job.

"I believe because of my training, knowledge, and experience over those 34 years, I think I have what it takes to take on the obstacles that Queen Anne's County is facing right now," said Rhodes.

Hoffman says if re-elected, you can expect more of the same hard work that has made the county safer.

"We're going to be out there doing what we normally do targeting the drug dealers, and removing drugs from our streets.  Working with programs to assist our seniors and our children," said Hoffman.

Rhodes says for him, it's about making it safer for lifelong residents like himself and their children.

"Let's be in the neighborhoods.  Let's be visible and viable to the citizens of the county."
