Victim in Deadly Harbeson Crash Identified

Posted: Updated:
HARBESON, Del. – Delaware State Police has released the names of two people involved in a fatal car crash early this morning on Harbeson Road.

A preliminary investigation by DSP's Collision Reconstruction Unit indicates that around 6:32 a.m. Heather T. Harman, 27 of Milford, was operating a 2012 Toyota Scion southbound on SR5, just north of Carpenter Road, approaching a slight right curve. Robert J. Klerlein, 49 of Millsboro, was operating a Dodge Ram pick-up truck northbound on SR5, approaching Carpenter Road, when for undetermined reasons the two vehicles collided head-on in the southbound lanes. After the collision, both vehicles came to a stop on the southbound shoulder.

Police say Harman, who was properly restrained, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say Robert Klerlein, who was not properly restrained, was transported to Beebe Medical Center where he was treated and released with non-life threatening injuries.

The Collision Reconstruction Unit continues to investigate this incident. They say alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this case. No charges have been filed.

SR5 between Sam Lucas Road and Carpenter Road were closed for approximately four hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.
