Police Department Launches App

Posted:

SMYRNA, Del. – The Smyrna Police Department has launched a new app available for iPhones and Androids.

The town of Smyrna said there are 24 features on the app, including department contacts, push notifications, feedback and tip forms, and options to get information from FEMA, the National Weather Service, and the National Terror Advisory System. There are also links for wanted persons, videos, sex offenders, and blog posts.

The app can be downloaded for free by searching for “My Police Department” in the iPhone or Android marketplace, according to town officials.

“This police app is a great addition to our agency” Police Chief Norman Wood said. “We can now push out notifications and alerts and the public has a variety of ways to contacts us. The goal of our MyPD app is to give our public a one stop app option with plenty of features and to further open the lines of communication.”

Users can choose not only the Smyrna Police app but they also have the option to view other police departments on MyPD by choosing a different city or state. The app defaults to the last agency viewed upon opening, this makes it easy to always open just to the Smyrna Police Department, according to the town.

The town wants to inform users that the app is not for emergency situations, it is for routine questions and information sharing.

More app information can be found on the Smyrna Police website and the MyPD police app website.
