Deputies Raise Awareness of Maryland Child Passenger Safety Laws

Posted:

SECRETARY, Md. - Officers from the Dorchester County Sheriff's Department want local parents to be fully aware of the state's seatbelt and child passenger safety laws.

Corporals Gary Blades, Mike Rickwood and Wes Jones visited Warwick Elementary School Wednesday in an effort to inform parents of the rules.

A deputy approached each car at student drop-off and gave drivers a copy of the laws, including diagrams. Deputies also made drivers aware of laws they were violating in an attempt to raise awareness and promote child safety in vehicles.

Warwick Elementary plans to maintain this partnership with Sheriff Phillips, Corporal Blades and the Dorchester County Sheriff's Department and schedule additional checks in the future.
