OCEAN CITY, Md. – One couple and 5,000 hours, the Olsons resign after 11 years of service to the Ocean City Police Department Auxiliary Unit.

Donald and Wanda Olson were volunteers, donating a combined total of more than 5,000 hours of time.

Ocean City police recognized the couple for all they did over the years. Many residents may remember seeing the Olsons conducting traffic details or helping out at special events.

Police say they will miss the Olsons as they continue their retirement closer to family in western Maryland.

The auxiliary unit is a group of civilian volunteers that are trained to support the department and serve Ocean City. Anyone interested in joining the Auxiliary Unit is asked to contact Lt. Scott Harner at 410-520-5318.
