Maryland's Health Exchange Will Modify Call Center Software

Posted:
ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) - The board overseeing Maryland's health exchange has approved a contract to modify software designed to help the state's call center that assists people who try to get signed up for health insurance.

The Maryland Health Benefit Exchange Board of Directors approved the contract with Eventus Solutions Group Thursday in a conference call.

Board members did not mention the precise cost of the emergency procurement during the meeting.

Dr. Joshua Sharfstein, Maryland's health secretary, said in a telephone interview after the meeting that the contract was for about $80,000. Sharfstein did not attend the meeting.

The contract is for software that is designed to help alleviate problems with call volume to the center. The software is aimed at better helping people get signed up without having to call the center repeatedly.
