Choptank Electric Groundbreaking for New Service Center in Salisbury
SALISBURY, MD - Choptank Electric Cooperative held a groundbreaking ceremony on October 28, 2014 to celebrate the new Regional Service Center building that is being erected on Walston Switch Road across from Wor-Wic Community College in Salisbury, MD.
The new location will combine the Salisbury and Berlin district offices, which will provide for a stronger and more flexible workforce, and overall long term cost savings. This building will also house a redundant systems control room, Member Service Center, and other departments so that Choptank Electric will be prepared for the future growth of the Eastern Shore of Maryland.
The architectural design and plans are by Davis, Bowen, and Friedel, Inc. of Salisbury, MD and the project has been contracted to Gillis Gilkerson Inc. also of Salisbury. The building will have the distinction of being LEED Silver certified. Construction has started immediately and the building is scheduled to be completed in the fall of 2015.
More information will be available on our website at www.choptankelectric.coop, as well as on Facebook, Twitter, and YouTube as continued progress is made with the construction of this building.
Choptank Electric Cooperative is an electric distribution co-op serving approximately 52,000 members across nine counties located on Maryland's Eastern Shore.
