Ships Return to Norfolk After Deployment

NORFOLK, Va. (AP) - The ships of the Bataan Amphibious Ready Group are returning to their home ports in Virginia following a nine-month deployment.
   
The ships are scheduled to arrive in Norfolk and Virginia Beach on Friday.
   
The group is comprised of the amphibious assault ship USS Bataan, amphibious transport dock ship USS Mesa Verde and amphibious dock landing ship USS Gunston Hall.
   
Aircraft assigned to the group conducted strikes in Syria and Iraq.
   
The Bataan Amphibious Ready Group also successfully completed two rescues at sea, a number of support operations and participated in the first days of exercise Eager Lion.

    Police Investigating Deadly Crash in Wicomico County

    Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly car crash Friday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of White Lowe Road and Route 50 shortly before 3 p.m. According to MSP, Maria Theresia Ellis, 77 of Ocean City, was driving on White Lowe Road when her car failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she turned onto Route 50. Police said Ellis's car was hit in a T-bone like manner by Garrett Adrian Pusey, 20 of Mardela Springs.
