DOVER, Del.- A Dover man has been charged with attempted murder in connection with a liquor store shooting.

Dover police said a 33-year-old man walked into the Driftwood Spirits Liquor Store at 133 S. Bradford St. shortly before 4 p.m. Sunday while the clerk was in the cooler.

When the man opened the cooler door, police said the clerk began shooting at him and continued firing as he ran away. When the man fell onto his back outside the store, police said the clerk stood over him and shot at him twice more.

The man suffered minor graze wounds and had no life-threatening injuries, according to investigators.

The clerk, 35-year-old Michael Brodie of Dover, was taken into custody without incident and charged with attempted first-degree murder, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony and carry concealed deadly weapon.

Police say it is believed Brodie and the man had previous run-ins, which had led to the victim being banned from the liquor store.
