Five Charged in Robbery, Dover Police Seek 6th Suspect

Posted: Updated:
DOVER, Del.- Dover police have arrested five teenage suspects and are searching for a sixth suspect accused of attacking and robbing a 41-year-old man over the weekend.

Police said the incident happened around 1:45 p.m. Saturday as the victim was walking northbound on the 100 block of Kirkwood Street. Police said the victim told them he was "swarmed" by multiple juvenile suspects who punched and kicked him multiple times. The man suffered cuts to his face and head swelling, police said.

Investigators said that during the attack, the suspects stole a bag belonging to the victim and fled into a nearby home.

After reviewing surveillance video, police said they were able to confirm the victim's account of the incident. They say the video showed the suspects fleeing into the home on North Kirkwood Street, so they immediately responded to that home and found five of the suspects who were in the video.

Police said they took four suspects, all under age 14, into custody, but a 15-year-old tried to flee. Police said officers were able to catch the 15-year-old after a brief foot pursuit.

The identity of a sixth suspect is still unknown.

Police say all of the suspects are facing first degree robbery, riot, second-degree conspiracy and third-degree assault charges. The 15-year-old who tried to outrun police is also charged with resisting arrest.

Police say anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the Dover Police Department at (302) 736-7111 or call the Delaware Crime Stoppers Tip Line at 1-800-Tip-3333 or go online at
