ELMWOOD PARK, N.J.— A newcomer to the University of Maryland Eastern Shore's bowling team has been named to the all-tournament team at the FDU New Jersey Jamboree over the weekend.

Thashaina Seraus finished sixth overall in a field where 184 women bowlers saw playing time, according to UMES. That was Seraus' first collegiate bowling event.

Seraus rolled a 234 in the final match of day one and also had the highest UMES average of the day with just under a 189. Seraus seemed to suffer from some nerves in her first college tournament, rolling a 152 and 148 in her first two matches before settling down to toss a 212, 198 and 234 to finish the day, according to UMES.

Her tournament team game average over 11 games was an impressive 210.09 as she was one of just six bowlers in the field to average over a 210.

She led UMES to an eighth place finish in the 26-team field.
