Police Probe Robbery of DOT Discount Store

NEW CASTLE, Del.– Delaware State Police are investigating a robbery of a New Castle DOT Discount store that took place mid-morning Sunday.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:50 a.m. Sunday at the DOT Discount located at 1422 North DuPont Highway as a white male subject approached the counter to make a purchase of cigarettes. He then informed the 41-year-old female employee that he had a gun and demanded the money. The clerk complied with the demand and turned over an undisclosed amount of money. The male suspect then fled the store on foot and ran in the direction of the Pep-Boys. No one was injured in this incident.

The suspect was described as a white male, 35-45 years old, between 5-foot-7 and 5-foot-9, 170-180 pounds, wearing a dark colored jacket, blue baseball hat, blue jeans, and black sneakers (no further physical or clothing description). Possibly armed with an unknown type handgun. No surveillance photos available.
