Two Arrested in Va for Counterfeit Money

SPOTSYLVANIA, Va. (AP) - Two people from North Carolina have been arrested after authorities say they tried to spend counterfeit money at a store in Virginia.

The Spotsylvania County Sheriff's Office said in a statement that 36-year-old Abran Renolco Woolard and 24-year-old Lakeia Shaunte Woolard, both of Raleigh, face charges including child neglect, counterfeiting and obtaining money by false pretense.

Sheriff Roger Harris said one of the suspects went into the store with two juveniles on Sunday, picked up several items and gave money to the clerk. Both the clerk and the store manager were suspicious, and when they tested the money with a marker, it was determined to be fake.

The two are being held in the Rappahannock Regional Jail.  Child Protective Services has taken the juveniles into their custody pending an investigation.
