Person at Md. School Diagnosed with Tuberculosis

OXON HILL, Md. (AP)- Someone at a Prince George's County high school has tested positive for tuberculosis.

Officials at Potomac High School in Oxon Hill sent a letter to parents Monday about the diagnosis. They did not say whether the person who tested positive was male or female, or whether the person is a student or staff member. They cited privacy reasons.

The person is being treated for the bacterial infection, and health officials are working to identify anyone who may have had close contact with him or her. No additional cases have been reported so far.

School officials tell parents that anyone who may have had prolonged exposure to the person with tuberculosis should be tested.
