Dulles Sees Record Low, Baltimore Matches Record

Posted:

WASHINGTON (AP)- The District of Columbia region is hitting record low temperatures Wednesday.

Dulles International Airport dipped down to 15 degrees Wednesday morning. National Weather Service meteorologist Kevin Witt says that's 5 degrees colder than the previous record low for Nov. 19 - 20 degrees in 1990.

Witt says the Baltimore-Washington Thurgood Marshall International Airport saw its previous record matched Wednesday morning. The temperature at the airport fell to 20 degrees, matching the record low set in 1936.

District of Columbia Mayor Vincent Gray declared a cold-weather emergency on Tuesday. That allows the District to implement additional measures beyond traditional shelters for the city's homeless, such as warming sites.

More seasonable temperatures are forecast for the rest of the week.
