NEWARK, Del. (AP) - The University of Delaware community is remembering a student killed in a car accident as an ambitious, hard-working young woman who liked to sit in the front row, and had an infectious and feisty personality.

Twenty-two-year-old Alexis DeFrancesco of Dover was killed Sunday after the car she was in was hit by a red light-runner south of Newark.

In a news release Wednesday, the university says DeFrancesco was a fashion merchandising senior and was excited to be graduating soon.

Professors and advisers say DeFrancesco was juggling school with various jobs and had recently begun interviewing for permanent positions.

Fellow student Courtney McGee says DeFrancesco wanted to start her career in New York or Los Angeles.

DeFrancesco is survived by her parents, a brother and a sister.
