Newark Woman Charged for Attempting to Rob 78 Year-Old Woman

NEWARK, De. – Wilmington Police chased down and apprehended a woman for trying to steal an elderly woman's purse Wednesday morning.

A 78 year-old woman was walking into a doctor's office when the suspect came up from behind her and grabbed her purse. The woman was knocked to the ground and allegedly dragged 30 feet while the purse was still around her shoulder.

Someone witnessed the robbery and chased the suspect. During the chase the witness spotted a police officer. The officer was able to catch the suspect, Natasha L. Brooks and apprehend her.

Brooks is charged with Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Assault 2nd Degree, Offensive Touching and Criminal Mischief. She was arraigned through Justice of the Peace and is currently being held on $26,000 secured bail.
