1 Dead, 3 Others Including 2 Children Injured in Snow Hill Crash

Posted: Updated:
SNOW HILL, Md. - Maryland State Police say one person was killed and three others, including two young children, were injured in a car accident early Thanksgiving morning.

It happened around 3 a.m. Thursday on Route 113 southbound south of Blades Road in Snow Hill.

Upon arrival at the scene, police say a gold Ford Explorer, bearing PA registration, was found in the grassy median with heavy damage. Police say the front passenger was trapped inside.

Through investigation, police say it was found that the driver of the vehicle drove the vehicle off the roadway, striking a tree. Due to the impact with the tree, police say the vehicle rotated onto the roof, and then landed on all four tires and came to a rest.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was then projected into the back seat of the vehicle. Police say two small children, ages 6 and 9, were seated in the back seat.

Police say the front seat passenger, identified as 27-year-old Jhoanna Lynn Tabourn, of Philadelphia, Pa., succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The driver, identified as 62-year-old Robert l. Tabourn Sr., was flown to shock trauma Baltimore by helicopter. The children were initially taken to Peninsula Regional Medical Center and later taken to John Hopkins Medical Center. Their conditions are unknown.

Police are still investigating the cause of this accident but say alcohol may have been a factor.

The investigation is ongoing.
