PRINCESS ANNE, Md. – Community members showed mixed reactions to the news that two men were arrested for Human Trafficking Sunday night in Princess Anne. Starlett Jackson lives in Crisfield but she travels through Princess Anne often. "This area is pretty cool calm and laid back. There's not really a lot of things, especially of that nature, going on,” says Jackson.

Sunday night Maryland State Police arrested 33 year-old Travon Anthony of Lemoyne, PA and 23 year-old Kyree Tatem of Delmar. Police were led to the America's Best Value Inn located off of US Route 13 when one of the victim's mothers notified them that she had received a text from her daughter.

Police say the two victims are women, aged 20 and 25 years old. They initially agreed to work with Anthony and Tatem as prostitutes. Anthony would run the operation and Tatem would be the security. However, prior to being brought from Delaware to Maryland, one of the victim's claims she was physically beaten by Anthony who then threatened to kill her if she tried to leave. Fearing for their lives, both women stayed.

While traveling, one of the women was able to send a text out to her mom. Her mom notified police and Anthony and Tatem were arrested.

Anthony is charged with two counts of human trafficking, kidnapping, and false imprisonment. Tatem is charged with two counts of human trafficking, kidnapping, false imprisonment as well as possession of heroin.

While some were shocked by the news, others were not. “In today's society, nothing surprises me,” says Bob Dennis who frequents the gas station just across the road.
