DOVER, Del. – Grant funding through DNREC's Delaware Coastal Programs is now available for planning and research projects that increase resiliency to sea level rise and coastal storms, and that support the recommendations of Delaware's Sea Level Rise Advisory Committee.

These grants are availabe to municipal and county government agencies, state agencies, not-for-profit organizations, colleges and universities

Planning grants are available for projects including assessments of vulnerability to sea level rise and coastal storms; adaptation plans; improvements to ordinances and building codes; assessments of costs and benefits of adaptation strategies, and design of on-the-ground adaptation projects.

Research grants are available for projects including investigations into the secondary and cumulative impacts of adaptation strategies; modeling of combined effects of sea level rise and heavy precipitation; and development of tools and technology for reduction of coastal hazards impacts.

This competitive grant funding is available through DNREC's Delaware Coastal Programs Office. In previous years, grant award amounts have ranged from $5,000 - $25,000. Grant recipients must be able to provide one-to-one matching funds or in-kind services.

Applications are due no later than February 6, 2015. Interested applicants can submit a conceptual pre-proposal by December 23, 2014 to receive eligibility feedback.

Details about the grant program, including applicant eligibility, matching requirements and application procedures can be found online.

Proposed Roundabout for Wicomico County Intersection

There is a intersection in Salisbury off Route 50 that has several roads leading into it and 12 traffic lights regulating it.

Mount Hermon Road, Long Avenue, Truitt Street, East Williams Street, and Main Street all intersect at one central location.

People in the community have mixed feelings about the intersection. Some say it should be left alone because it regulates traffic just fine while others say it is a nuisance.
