The pantry was the brainchild of Shannon Scott-Wilcutts, Rev. Dianne Davis, and Barbara Wright all of Goshen United Methodist Church of Milton and opened this past June. The faith based pantry originally included 4 local churches but has since expanded to include 7 local churches: Goshen UMC, St John the Baptist Episcopal, Mt Zion Holy Church, Zion United Methodist Church, Water's Edge Wesleyan Church, and The Grace Church, all of Milton, as well as Harbeson's United Methodist Church.
They served 9 people that first day in June but now pack food for over 120 people each week. Generally they try to pack enough food to last 3 days and use the monetary donations to buy food to fill in the gaps in donations.
The group started small with just 5 people attending the first organizational meeting, but now the pantry features over 30 hard working volunteers. The group relies on donations through the member churches, direct donations from individuals of food and money, and heavy contributions from the Milton Food Lion and Brittingham's Produce of Milton.
Shannon Scott Wilcutts states that the pantry is “a ministry of love. God blessed us and we couldn't do it without the generous volunteers and donations.”
The group preps and accepts donations every Sunday at Goshen Hall in Milton from Noon to 2 PM. Donations are distributed to area needy on Mondays. For more information on the group feel free to call Shannon at 302-249-4918 or stop by Goshen Hall on Sundays from Noon to 2 PM.
