1 Man Killed, Another Critical in Maryland Crash

Posted:

GLEN BURNIE, Md. (AP)- Police say aggressive driving and speed appear to be factors in a three-vehicle crash in Glen Burnie that left one man dead and sent two others to the hospital.

County police say witnesses reported seeing a Ford Mustang driving aggressively on Route 174 around 4 p.m. Wednesday when it crossed the center line and hit an Oldsmobile head-on. Both cars were then hit by another car that had been driving behind the Oldsmobile.

The driver of the Oldsmobile was trapped in his car and declared dead at the scene. He was identified as 50-year-old Curtis Rutherford of Pasadena.

The driver responsible for the crash, 33-year-old John Hayes of Glen Burnie, was taken to Shock Trauma in Baltimore with life-threatening injuries. The driver of the third car had minor injuries.
