Newark Police Seek Suspects in Attempted Strong Arm Robbery of Student

NEWARK, Del. – Police are investigating an attempted strong arm robbery of a University of Delaware student Tuesday night.

Officers say it happened around 11:19 p.m. outside the 700 building of Scholar Drive.

According to police, two black suspects approached a 19-year-old female. One of them punched her in the face and knocked her to the ground. The suspects then began to go through the victim's property but fled the area when she screamed.

Officers from the Newark and University of Delaware Police Departments responded to the scene with a K9 team but were unable to locate the suspects.

Police say the victim, a UD student, sustained minor abrasions but declined medical treatment.

The first suspect is described as a black male, thin build, 5'4” with a dark complexion. Witnesses say he was wearing a white or light colored long sleeve t-shirt.

The second suspect is described as a black male, heavy set, 5'10” tall with a dark complexion. Witnesses say he was wearing a gray crewneck sweatshirt with writing on the front.
