STOCKTON, Md. - The Worcester County Sheriff's Office along with the County Bureau of Investigation say a 78-year-old woman was found dead in a ditch on the side of Stockton Road near a silver Honda Civic in Worcester County.

Police investigation revealed the identity of the 78-year-old woman as Hazel Virginia O'Neill of Philadelphia.

Police say O'Neill was seen on December 9 by a passerby around 3:55 p.m., who saw a silver car being pushed off the side of the road by a UPS driver and another person on Route 366 between Bird Hill Rd and Little Mill Rd. in Stockton.  The passerby told investigators when they drove back through the same area about an hour later, the car was on the side of the road with the parking lights on and the female suspect was not there.

O'Neill was found in the ditch around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday morning by a Waste Management driver.

The Worcester County Sheriff's Office says the body has been transported to the Medical Examiner's Office for an autopsy.
