Man Arrested After Assaulting Salisbury Cab Driver

Posted:
SALISBURY, Md. - Officers of the Salisbury Police Department arrested a man after a reported assault and attempted robbery of a Salisbury Taxi driver on Tuesday, Dec. 9 around 10:30 p.m.

Police say the incident happened on the 300 block of Barclay Street. Police say Mr. Langelle, a Salisbury Taxi driver, says he picked up the passenger, 26-year-old Aaron Justin Aikens, at that location.  He requested to be taken to Hillcrest Avenue.  According to the driver, when they arrived at their location, Aikens asked to be taken back to Barclay Street.

Police say when they arrived back on Barclay Street Aikens refused to pay for the cab fare, removed a pen from the center console of the taxi, and began stabbing Mr. Langelle in the side of the head and face. Police say Aikens then held the pen to the his throat and stated, "Give me your money" and attempted to steal Mr. Langelle's wallet. He was able to fight the suspect off and the suspect fled the area on foot.

Salisbury Police Officers arrested Aikens.  He was released to the Wicomico County Detention Center.
