78-Year-Old Injured During Laurel Home Invasion

Posted:

LAUREL, Del.- Delaware State Police are investigating after a home invasion that happened Thursday morning east of Laurel.

It happened around 2:05 a.m., Thursday, December 11th, in the 8000 block of Bacons Road. Troopers say they responded to a call that someone had broken into a home and robbed the 78-year-old homeowner.

State police say a preliminary investigation shows the homeowner was sleeping in his bedroom, when a male intruder began hitting him in the head with an unknown object and tied him up. Troopers say a second male suspect took cash from the victim's belongings. State police say the two male suspects ran away in an unknown direction after stealing the cash.

Troopers say the 78-year-old victim sustained minor injuries during the incident. State police say the victim refused medical treatment at the scene.

State police do not have a description of either suspect at this time. Troopers believe this was not a random act and believe the victim was targeted in the home invasion.
