Wicomico County Schools on Code Orange After Reported Bank Robberies

WICOMICO COUNTY, Md. – Several schools in the county are currently operating on a Code Orange, or safe in place status, following reported bank robberies.

Northwestern Elementary and Mardela Middle and High Schools are awaiting further guidance from law enforcement after a reported robbery at a Sharptown bank.

Pinehurst and Pemberton Elementary Schools have now returned to normal operations, after being on Code Orange for about an hour and a half following a bank robbery in Salisbury.

The robberies happened at different Hebron Savings Banks.

K-9 units are on both scenes in search for a suspect.

No injuries have been reported at this time.

    Police Investigating Deadly Crash in Wicomico County

    Maryland State Police are investigating a deadly car crash Friday afternoon. It happened at the intersection of White Lowe Road and Route 50 shortly before 3 p.m. According to MSP, Maria Theresia Ellis, 77 of Ocean City, was driving on White Lowe Road when her car failed to yield to oncoming traffic as she turned onto Route 50. Police said Ellis's car was hit in a T-bone like manner by Garrett Adrian Pusey, 20 of Mardela Springs.
