WALLOPS ISLAND, Va. (AP/WBOC)- NASA plans to provide updates to the public on environmental work conducted since a rocket exploded at Wallops Island on Virginia's Eastern Shore.

The information session is scheduled for 6-8 p.m. Monday at the Wallops Visitor Center.

On Oct. 28, an unmanned Antares commercial supply rocket bound for the International Space Station exploded moments after liftoff.

An environmental team at Wallops will answer questions about the incident and give information about testing and remediation efforts and safety procedures for launch operations.

NASA said collected samples indicate the environmental impact of the launch was mostly contained to the impact crater adjacent to the launch pad.

For more information about the event, call Jeremy Eggers, Wallops' Office of Communications, at (757) 824-2958.
