19-Year-Old Issued DUI After Leaving Scene of a Crash

Posted:

HARRINGTON, Del. – A Harrington teenager is awaiting a future court appearance for a DUI after police say he crashed his vehicle and left the scene.

Caleb Grant, 19, of the 300 block of Calvin Street, was issued traffic summons for multiple violations following the Tuesday incident including driving under the influence of alcohol, leaving the scene of an accident and driving with a suspended or revoked license, police say. He also received a criminal summons for trespassing.

According to the Harrington Police Department, officers on patrol responded to a report of a vehicle hitting a railroad control box. When they arrived at the scene, the vehicle had left, but they located it in the driveway of a home in the 300 block of Weiner Avenue.

Police say they saw Grant standing next to the vehicle. After he tried to run away, officers caught him and took him into custody. Upon speaking with him, they smelled alcohol on his person.

Grant was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing. According to officers, he was then released to family members pending a future court appearance.
