OC Man Ends Barricade Situation In Stevensville

Posted:
STEVENSVILLE, MD – Maryland State Police successfully apprehend an Ocean City man after he refused to come out of a house he was attempting to burglarize in Queen Anne's County.

The man, identified as 25-year old Brandon Borradaile, of Ocean City, Maryland.  Borradaile is charged with first and third degree burglary and malicious destruction of property.  He is being held at the Centreville Barrack for processing and will be transported to the Queen Anne's County Court Commissioner's Office for an initial appearance.

After a nine hour standoff with police, Borradaile was apprehended by Maryland State Police at the residence he attempted to burglarize this morning.  Police believe Borradaile is also responsible for a burglary on Friday, December 19,  at a residence in the 10,000 block of Inlet Road in Ocean City, where a blue Toyota Avalon was reported stolen.  The Toyota Avalon is the same vehicle found in the driveway of the Stevensville home this morning.

Shortly after 3:30 p.m. Monday, members of the State Police Special Tactical Assault Team Element entered the home in the 900 block of Bayside Drive in Stevensville. Borradaile was arrested without incident and was the only individual found inside the residence.  There were no injuries sustained in the incident.

At about 6:30 a.m. this morning, troopers from the Centreville barrack were dispatched to the residential community after a neighbor reported suspicious activity at the residence.  The caller informed police about an unfamiliar vehicle observed in the driveway and a suspicious man walking around the house.

When troopers arrived on the scene, they observed broken glass in the sliding glass door in the back of the house, indicating a possible illegal entry into the home. When troopers made verbal commands for Borradaile to exit the home, he refused to cooperate with police and barricaded himself inside the residence.

Troopers identified the blue Toyota Avalon in the driveway as a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was reported stolen from a burglary in Ocean City, Maryland last week during a burglary of another unoccupied home. Additional charges are pending further investigation of the Ocean City burglary.
