Del. Man Walking His Dog Killed by Car

Posted:
CAMDEN, Del.- Delaware State Police say a man walking his dog was killed after being struck by a car Monday evening in Camden.

Troopers said that at around 7 p.m., 55-year-old David Bilow of Camden-Wyoming was walking with his Labrador mix southbound across Old North Road from Caesar Rodney High School when he was struck.

Investigators said Bilow was in a clearly marked crosswalk when a 2001 Saturn SL hit him, throwing him onto the vehicle and then into the roadway. He died three hours later at Bayhealth Kent General Hospital in Dover.

Police said the driver of the car, 18-year-old Kyle Tieman, did not see Bilow because a car had turned in front of him after allowing Bilow to cross.

Bilow's dog ran home after his owner was hit and was later treated for undetermined injuries.

Tieman was also transported to Bayhealth where he was treated for minor non-life-threatening injuries and released. A 17-year-old female passenger was uninjured. Both were properly restrained, police said.

An investigation into the crash is ongoing. No charges have been filed.
